The Murray State Racers play for the first time at South Dakota State Saturday when they take on the Jackrabbits in Frost Arena at 4 p.m. The game marks the second meeting from their first, in the 2013 BracketBusters game played in Murray. This return game puts an end to the popular mid-major basketball series for each team.
Froggy 103 (WFGE 103.7 FM) airs every MSU game with "Voice of the Racers" Neal Bradley, in his 26th season calling the action. Dave Winder, assistant AD for Media Relations provides commentary. Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com has free online streaming audio and live pay-per-view streaming video can be found at GoJacks.com/watch.
The Racers are 5-6 after a 78-73 loss Thursday at Ole Miss. Terrell Miller led MSU with 27 points and 10 rebounds, while Damarcus Croaker added 13 points and eight rebounds and Jonathan Stark scored 12 points. MSU trailed 62-42 with 11 minutes left, but clawed back into a spot to cut the lead to one with 16-seconds left, but ultimately their comeback fell short.
Stark is the second leading scorer in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 19.8 average as the Tulane transfer has come to Murray State and already won four OVC Newcomer of the Week awards. Miller leads MSU with a rebound average of 6.9 and is second on the team with a 13.5 scoring average. Bryce Jones (12.6ppg) and Croaker (11.2ppg) give the Racers four solid double-figure scorers.
MSU meets a Jackrabbits' team that has won 33-straight games at their home court. SDSU's last home loss was to North Dakota State 85-77 on Jan. 25, 2014. SDSU beat Idaho at home last week 80-77.
There is one common opponent. MSU lost to UMKC in Bowling Green 85-74 (Nov. 20) and SDSU beat the Kangaroos at home (Dec. 3) 77-68.
After SDSU, the Racers host Wright State Thursday and after the Christmas break, MSU hosts Brescia (Dec. 29) before hosting Tennessee State (Dec. 31) in the OVC opener at the CFSB Center.
