Balanced Scoring Leads Racers Past Brescia

The Murray State Racers scored a 99-83 win over the Brescia Bearcats Thursday at the CFSB Center in Murray Ky.
The Racers end their non-conference portion of the 2016-17 season 6-8 as they head into the 69th season of Ohio Valley Conference Saturday at home against Tennessee State.
Fueled by five players reaching double-figure scoring, the Racers hit 48 percent of their shots from the field and went to the free throw line where they hit 31-of-47. Jonathan Stark paced the Racers with 18 points and seven assists, while Terrell Miller tossed in 16 points. Jerami Grace scored 13 points including 5-of-5 from the line, with Jalen Dupree adding 12 points. Jachai Taylor added 12 points as the Racers had nine of the 11 players that got into the game reach the scoring column. Brion Sanchious added 10 rebounds.
MSU jumped to a 26-11 lead with 7:11 before half and led the game at intermission 45-37. The Racers pushed it to a 72-55 lead with 9:13 left.
Game Notes
Grace's 13 points was a career-high at MSU, besting the 12 he had against Green Bay (Nov. 19).
Brion Sanchious had a career-high 10 rebounds. His previous best was six at SIU (Nov. Nov. 26). Dupree's six boards was his best at MSU, after the five he grabbed at SIU.
MSU has six games this season with 9 steals or more. They had nine tonight.
MSU is 5-1 at home in the CFSB Center this season. In their 19th season in the building, MSU is 226-39 (.852) overall and 94-15 (.862) against non-conference teams.
The Racers now ready themselves for the Ohio Valley Conference season. As a founding member of the OVC, the Racers have been a part of all of the previous 68 seasons of OVC basketball.
MSU hosts Tennessee State Saturday at 11 a.m. in a league opener to be carried by the CSB Sports Network.
MSU seeks it's 25th regular season title. They most recently won the championship in 2012 and 2015.
