In search of their fourth-straight Ohio Valley Conference West Division championship, the Murray State Racers travel to the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo., to face the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks Thursday. The 8 p.m. tip will air on ESPNU with Dr. Jerry Punch and Mo Cassara calling the action.
All Murray State games are heard over free radio on WFGE Froggy 103.7 FM and online at Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com. Neal Bradley is in his 25th season as the Voice of the Racers. Former MSU assistant coach Kenny Roth provides analysis and commentary. Online video will be handled by ESPN3.com
The Racers were dealt a setback of their goal Saturday in a 63-59 loss at UT Martin that dropped MSU to 11-11 overall and 5-4 in the OVC West. The Racers begin play Thursday a half game behind leader Eastern Illinois at 6-4.Â
SEMO is coming off an 86-80 loss at home to Austin Peay. The Redhawks are 5-17 overall and 2-7 in the OVC West. SEMO has already knocked off UTM and SIUE.
An always interesting match up, especially at SEMO, the game offers some contrast in how the teams stack up among their OVC brothers. MSU is tops in the OVC in holding opponents to under 65 points per game, but they're having trouble scoring and are 10th in the league at 68 points per game. SEMO is last in the OVC giving opponents nearly 79 points per game, but can score. They  have two games of 80-plus points in OVC play against league leader Belmont and the last time out against APSU.
If Thursday's game is anything like the last two trips to the Show Me Center, this will be a wild and close game. Last year, late heroics helped the Racers get the game into overtime before they won 94-92 on their way to a perfect 16-0 championship season. In 2014, the Racers suffered a 118-115 double overtime defeat  in a game that would've given them a share of the OVC title with Belmont.
Murray State's Jeffery Moss scored a season-high 22 points at UTM Saturday on 6-of-12 shooting from the 3-point line. Moss scored the Racers' first eight points and ended the day tying his career-high with eight rebounds. Moss has 1,232 points coming into the game and is one of 28 that have reached the 1,200-point mark.
The Racers come home to the CFSB Center Saturday for a doubleheader day with the Austin Peay Govs. The women's tip is at 5 p.m. and the men's at 7 p.m. Both games are available at OVCDigitalNetwork.com.
