MSU came from behind to win in all three matches at the Fort Wayne Invitational to claim the tournament title. The Racers defeated Fort Wayne in four sets and Ball State and Youngstown State in five. Scottie Ingram was named the Most Valuable Player of the invite while Rachel Giustino and Ellie Lorenz were named to the all-tournament team.

In addition to her AVCA honor, Ingram was also named the ADIDAS OVC Offensive Player of the Week earlier in the week. Giustino and Lorenz also joined Ingram in taking home player of the week honors as Giustino was named Newcomer of the Week and Lorenz took home Defensive Player of the Week.
Lorenz led the Racers in digs in all three matches at Fort Wayne and averaged 5.07 digs per set. She opened the season with 22 in the win over Fort Wayne and followed that up with 30 against BSU and closed the tournament with 19 against Youngstown State.
