Racers Lose Hard-Fought Match With San Diego State

The Murray State volleyball team closed the Oregon Classic with a four-set loss to San Diego State in a hard-fought match at Knight Arena in Eugene, Ore. Set scores went 23-25, 27-29, 28-26 and 18-25.
Despite out-hitting the Aztecs (3-3) .208 to .184 and both teams recording 10 team blocks each, SDSU was powered by the serve as the Aztecs recorded eight aces and had five serving errors while the Racers (3-3) had just four aces and made 12 service errors.
Scottie Ingram led the way on the attack for MSU as she recorded a match-high 24 kills and also led the team with 22 digs. Ingram also added two solo blocks and two blocking assists in the loss on her way to being named to the all-tournament team at the classic.
Rachel Giustino had 10 kills in the match and a career-high 20 digs while Audrey Lewis added nine. Dacia Brown and Courtney Radle each chipped in with five kills apiece while Brown led the team with five block assists. Radle had a match-high 40 assists and also tallied three aces in the loss. Ellie Lorenz had 19 digs from her libero position.
The Racers have a quick turnaround as they return to action Tuesday when they travel to face Southern Illinois in a 7 p.m. match.
