Murray State looks to snap its current three-game skid on Wednesday evening as the Racers travel to face Morehead State in a 5 p.m., central time contest. The last time these two met in Morehead was the OVC opener of the 2014-15 season in which the Eagles won 64-63. Ke'Shunan James led the Racers with 13 points in the loss.
The Racers are coming off a 90-70 defeat by UT Martin on Saturday. It was MSU's first OVC loss at home this season. Bria Bethea led the Racers with 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting in the loss. Bethea also grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds to record her first career double-double. LeAsia Wright also tallied her first-ever double-double as she scored 11 points and dished out a career-best 10 assists in the loss.
In last week's two games, Bethea averaged 18.5 points and nine rebounds per contest while shooting 51 percent from the field overall and 50 percent (7-for-14) from 3-point range. In her last five games, Bethea is shooting 47 percent from the field and 42 percent from beyond the arc, while averaging 13.2 points per contest, raising her scoring average by over a point per game.
Despite scoring well below their averages in Saturday's loss, James and Wright remain amongst the league leaders in scoring this season. James' 19.5 points per game are still tops in the OVC while Wright's 15.6 per contest are the sixth-best mark in the conference.
The Eagles enter Wednesday's contest with an 11-2 record at home and a 4-1 mark in OVC games at Johnson Arena. Morehead State is led by Brianna McQueen's 13.1 points per game off the bench this season. Eriel McKee is second on the team at 11.5 points per game and is averaging a team-high 7.9 rebounds per. Miranda Crockett is the other Eagle averaging in double figures at 10.7 points per game. Darianne Seward is averaging a team-best 5.8 assists per game this season. As a team, Morehead is shooting 40.6 percent from the floor and 28.7 percent from 3-point range while averaging 71.6 points per game. The Eagles are allowing just 63.6 points per game.
