The Murray State women's basketball team faces its first action in 10 days Monday as the Racers travel to face UNCG in a road contest to begin MSU's final three-game non-conference stretch of the year. The Racers have been off since December 1 at Alabama A&M due to Finals Week.
In its last outing at AAMU, MSU fell to the Lady Bulldogs 71-54. Ke'Shunan James was the only Racer in double figures in the loss as she notched 18 while Brianna Crane was just one point shy of her second consecutive double-double as she scored nine points and grabbed a career-best 11 rebounds in the loss.
Nadine Soliman leads the Spartans averaging 13 points per game this season while Alexus Willey is the other Spartan in double figures, as she averages 10.3 points per game. Brandi Fier is averaging a team-best four assists per game. Ije Ajemba leads UNCG in rebounding with 11 per game.
As a team, UNCG is shooting 41.3 percent from the floor and 26.2 percent from 3-point range while averaging 65.4 points per game. The Spartans enter Monday's contest having lost their last four contests. MSU won the only other meeting between the two schools, 81-70 last season in Murray.
Monday will be just the second meeting all time between the two schools as MSU won last year's inaugural contest in Murray, 81-70. James led the Racers with 24 points and what was then a career-high 15 boards.
After Monday's contest, the Racers will be off for another week when Mississippi Valley State comes to the CFSB Center Dec. 18 before MSU closes the fall semester Dec. 20 at Alabama.
