Murray State women's basketball closes its 2017-18 non-conference schedule Wednesday as the Racers travel to face SEC-foe Alabama at 7 p.m., in Tuscaloosa. It will also be the Racers' final game before the holiday break.
MSU has won back-to-back contests for the first time this season after its 64-63 win over Mississippi Valley State on Monday. The Racers survived a last-second miss by the Devilettes in the victory. Jasmine Borders and Ke'Shunan James led the way for MSU with 19 points each. The 19 points is a new career-high for Borders while James added 12 rebounds to record her fourth double-double of the season.
The win makes the Racers a perfect 3-0 this season in Monday games. It also moves MSU's home record to 3-2 on the season.
The Crimson Tide enters Wednesday's contest having just played Tuesday afternoon at home against Missouri State. Hannah Cook's 13.1 points per game lead the balanced Alabama attack. Cook is also second on team averaging 5.1 rebounds per game. Ashley Williams has a team-high 6.9 boards per contest and is second on the team scoring 10.8 points per game. Cook and Williams are the only two to have started in every game this season for the Crimson Tide.
As a team, Alabama is averaging 69 points per game and is allowing under 55 per. MSU and Alabama have played two common opponents as the Tide defeated Alabama A&M, 90-32 in the season opener and won at Lipscomb 73-51 earlier this month.
After Wednesday's game, the Racers will open conference play after the break as Eastern Illinois comes to the CFSB Center December 28 for the OVC opener.
