The Murray State women look to snap a four-game home losing streak to SIU Edwardsville Saturday as the Cougars come to the CFSB Center for a 7 p.m., tip. MSU is coming off a 72-61 victory Thursday in its OVC opener against Eastern Illinois. It's the Racers' third-straight victory in an OVC opener.
The trio of Bria Bethea, Brianna Crane and Ke'Shunan James helped lead the Racers to the victory over the Panthers. James recorded her fifth double-double of the season in the win as she scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. James also added eight assists on the night. Bethea scored 17 points, recorded eight rebounds and a career-best three steals while Crane went 6-of-7 from the floor, scoring a career-high 16 points and pulled down nine boards.
Bethea and James are both in the top-10 in the league in scoring average this season. James is currently third in the OVC in scoring, as she averages 19.1 points per game. Bethea is tied for seventh at 14.8 per contest.
This season, Jasmine Borders is the only Racer to have started in all 12 games so far. MSU has used eight different starting lineup combinations this season. Borders is fourth on the team in scoring, averaging 8.3 points per game this year and is second on the team with 16 steals.
Northern Kentucky transfer Lauren White leads SIU Edwardsville in scoring, averaging 14.8 points per game and is shooting 39.3 percent from 3-point range. Donshel Beck is second on the Cougars in scoring and rebounding, averaging 11.4 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game. Sydney Bauman has a team-high 7.3 rebounds per contest this season. Bauman, Beck and White are the only three Cougars to have started in all 12 games this year. Thursday's OVC-opening win over Austin Peay broke a seven-game losing streak for SIUE. As a team, the Cougars are averaging 60 points per game and shooting 36.4 percent from the field.
