It has come down to a six-game season for Murray State. However, even after an 81-69 loss last Thursday at home to Belmont, the goals the Racers set before the season are still attainable. The Racers can still secure the program's 30th consecutive winning season, a run that is fourth among NCAA D-I teams. And of course, the goal of winning the Ohio Valley Conference West Division and the OVC Tournament are still within site.
The Racers are 3-8 on the road this season and the Eagles are 8-3 at home. Murray State's last road experience was a 84-81 overtime loss at Austin Peay (Jan. 21). The breaks of the game haven't gone MSU's way as they've played three overtime games this season away from home, but haven't been able to come out on the winning side.
Morehead State is one of the hottest teams in the OVC these days having won 5-of-6 including a road win Saturday at SEMO 89-81.
The battle with Morehead State marks the 158th meeting of two of the founding members of the OVC in 1948.
Murray State's Jonathan Stark and Terrell Miller, Jr., are one of the top newcomer tandems in the game. With eight OVC Newcomer of the Week awards between them this season, (Miller was the award winner this week for the third time) they're combining for 36.7 points per game in OVC games. Miller has eight double-doubles this season and Stark has 15 games of 20-point scoring. Stark is third and Miller ninth in OVC scoring.
