Racers' 4X100 Posts Top Time At Memphis

The Murray State Racers enjoyed the competition over the weekend at the Memphis Invite at the Billy J. Murphy Track Complex in Memphis, Tennessee. The two-day meet was MSU's final time out before they take on the OVC Championship starting on May 11.

The event saw MSU post the second-fastest 4x100Â relay time in program history and Jabreuna Brimlett and Tamdra Lawrence each post times in the 100 meter hurdles and the 100 meter dash that qualify them to compete at the NCAA regional.

Here's a look at the top finishes for the Racers at Memphis.
Â
Sprints
Jabreuna Brimlett won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 13.45, while Taylor McCammon was fifth at 14.14.

Tamdra Lawrence had a pair of second place finishes in the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash with times of 11.54 and 23.94.

Additionally in the 100 meter dash, Norma Abdur-Rafia was sixth at 12.01 and Daijah White placed 16th at 12.28. Abdur-Rafia placed third in the 200 meter with a time of 24.23, while Jocelyn Payne was ninth at 25.03.

Middle Distance
Ali Hester led the way for the Racers in the 800 and 1500 events with a fourth place showing in each. In the 800 meters, she had a time of 2:18.53 and in the 1500 meter event she had a time of at 4:44.05.

Other MSU finishers in the 800 included Hilary McAdam in fifth place at 2:21, Megan Smith in ninth place (2:24), Tia Weston in 16th place (2:27) and Rebekah Priddy in 17th (2:27). In the 1500 meter event, Smith was 12th at 4:52 and Mason Swenson was 13th at 4:52.

Tamdra Lawrence and Thornton also ran in the 400 meter event. Lawrence placed seventh at 58.94, while D'Myia Thornton placed eighth at 59.05.

In the 400 meter hurdles event, Jocelyn Payne placed fourth with a time of 1:04.11, while Taylor Adock was 11th at 108.41.

Distance
Mason Swenson scored a win in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:31.

In the 5000 meter run, Rebekah Priddy was 12th at 19:00 and Emily Flaherty was 15th at 19:06.

Field Events
Aubrey Main placed eighth in the high jump with a leap of 5-feet 1-inch, while Brimlett placed 11th in the long jump with an effort of 18-feet 8-inches. Brimlett was certainly busy at Memphis, as she also competed in the triple jump where she placed sixth at 40-feet 4.25 inches.

Jewel Wagner placed sixth in the hammer throw with a toss of 155-feet 10-inches. She also placed 14th in the shot put at 41-feet. In the discus, Destiny Carey placed 17th on a throw of 109-feet 5-inches.

Kristen Higgins had a javelin throw of 108-feet 10.6 inches to get a spot in eighth place.

Relays
The Racers' 4x100m relay team won the event at Memphis and had the second-fastest time in MSU history with a time of 45.91. The Racers team of Taylor McMcammon, Norma Abdur-Rafia, Jocelyn Payne and Tamdra Lawrence have the best time in the Ohio Valley Conference this season and they were just off the MSU record of 45.63 in 2012.

The Racers had two teams compete in the 4x400 relay. The team of Anna Curlin, Abdur-Rafia, Hilary McAdam and Payne placed fifth with a time of 3:59.08. A second Racer team placed sixth at 4:01.99. The team consisted of Tia Weston, Emily Evans, D'Myia Thornton and Aubrey Main.
