Murray State returns home for the first time in the new semester as Morehead State comes to "The Bank" Thursday for a 3 p.m. tip. The Racers are coming off a four-game road trip in which they went 2-2 with victories over Tennessee Tech and Tennessee State.
Last time out, MSU defeated TSU 85-73 on Saturday in Nashville. Ke'Shunan James led the way with 22 points in the victory and added 12 rebounds. Brianna Crane had 14 points and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds against the Lady Tigers. It marks the third time this season that a pair of Racers have recorded double-doubles in the same game this season.
For her efforts last week, James was named the ADIDAS Co-OVC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, an honor she shared with Eastern Kentucky's A'Queen Hayes. James' third player of the week honor of the season and 10th of her career, came after she averaged 20.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game in the games against Belmont and TSU. James shot 48 percent from the floor and also averaged two steals and a block per contest.
The Racers are looking to extend their home winning streak in the series to three games against the Eagles. MSU is 23-15 all-time at home in the series.
Morehead State's high-octane offense is led by Miranda Crockett's 15.1 points per game this season while Darianne Seward (13.6 ppg), Tierra McGowan (12.7) and Eriel McKee (12) all average in double figures for the Eagles. McGowan, who missed the last two games, leads the Eagles and the OVC in rebounding at 12.2 per contest. McGowan is the only student-athlete in the league to average double-digit rebounds per game.
As a team, Morehead is averaging 73.4 points per game and is shooting nearly 41 percent from the field, despite having a league-low 25.2 3-point percentage. The Eagles are 8-3 on the road so far this season and have won each of their last two away from home.
