The Murray State Racers carry a five-game home win streak when they host the Eastern Kentucky Colonels in the second part of a doubleheader day at The Bank in Murray, Kentucky. The Racers against the Colonels is the second game of the day after the women's teams meet at 5 p.m. with the men's game tips at 7 p.m. at the CFSB Center.
Froggy 103 (WFGS 103.7 FM) airs every MSU game with "Voice of the Racers" Neal Bradley calling the action in his 27th season. Former MSU assistant coach Kenny Roth provides commentary. The Racers are coming off an 87-81 win over Morehead State that saw each team score more than 50 points in the second half. The last time that happened, the Racers defeated Austin Peay 96-88 on Jan. 31, 2014. OVC leading scorer Jonathan Stark of the Racers scored 23 points on the strength of 12-of-12 from the free throw line. The Racers were 22-of-23 from the line and just missed the program record of 24-of-24 set in 1966. Terrell Miller added his 19th MSU double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. The Racers only had two bench points and had all five starters in double-figure scoring.
The win over Morehead State was the 1,600th in the 93rd season of Racer Basketball as they are now 1,600-889 (.642). This game was MSU's 1000th game in the 70th season of the OVC and the Racers are now 663-337 (.663).
The Racers have won their last five at home in the CFSB Center since a loss (Dec. 19) to Auburn. The Racers are now 240-44 (.845) in their 20 seasons at The Bank and 142-27 (.840) in OVC games.Â
The Racers and Colonels are meeting for the 161st time and are proud of the original group of schools that formed the OVC in 1948. MSU has won the last three since EKU's last win which came at the 2014 OVC Tournament. MSU has won the last two at home since EKU got a win at the CFSB Center in 2013.
After Saturday's game with the Colonels, the Racers hit the road for games at Southeast Missouri (Feb. 1) and UT Martin (Feb. 3). MSU returns home to face Austin Peay (Feb. 8).
