12/1/2018 8:02:00 PM | Women's Basketball
The Murray State women's basketball team could never find their stroke from the floor or from three-point range Saturday, as the Racers fell, 59-53, at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky.
The Racers (3-3) entered the game as the seventh best three-point shooting team in the nation, but were unable to hit a single three in the game, going 0-11. Their overall percentage was not much better as the shot a season-low 33.9 percent for the second straight game.
Keys for the Bulldogs in the game included holding the Racers to just 3-of-18 shooting in the second quarter for a total of six points and limiting the effectiveness of Macey Turley and Lex Mayes. Turley and Mayes entered Saturday averaging 14.4 and 12.6 points per game, respectively, but were held to just eight and one against Alabama A&M. Murray State was able to get the Bulldog lead down to just one with 1:09 to play, but could never get closer than that.
Evelyn Adebayo notched her third double-double in six games to lead Murray State with team-highs of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Janika Griffith-Wallace followed Adebayo with 11, while Brianna Crane had six points and eight boards.
The Racers will take a 10-day hiatus for finals week before returning to action on the road ay Illinois. Tip-off from Champaign is currently scheduled for 7 p.m.
