Following a strong year on the track, Murray State track and field head coach Adam Kiesler has been named the 2018 Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association (KTCCCA) University Women's Coach of the Year.
"Thank you to the KTCCCA for recognizing me for this award and the year our program had last season," said Kiesler. "Coach Riggins and Coach Wallace also need to be recognized for everything they do for this program on a daily basis. 2018 was a good step for this program and we look forward to taking the next step this year."
Kiesler and the rest of the coaching staff led the Racers to a  second-place finish at the 2018 OVC Outdoor Championships, which included three individual championships for Jabreuna Brimlett in the 100m hurdles, Tamdra Lawrence in the 100m, and Hilary McAdam in the 800m. Brimlett and Lawrence also advanced to the NCAA East preliminaries.
The second-place finish was the best for Murray State since 2013 when they also finished second.
In the indoor season, the Racers placed fourth at the OVC Championships and had multiple top-five finishes.
Kiesler will presented with the award at a luncheon on January 5 at the KTCCCA Clinic at the Clarion in Lexington.
The Racers competed at Vanderbilt, December 1 to open the 2018-19Â indoor season. They are back in action, January 12 at Illinois for the Illini Classic.
