The Game
The Murray State softball team will close out its 2018 regular season with a doubleheader Friday against Austin Peay at Racer Field
Last Time Out
Haven Campbell one-hit Morehead State as the Racers picked up a 1-0 win in game one. Erika Downey hit and scored in the third for the decisive run. In game two, Madison Culver gave the Racers an early 3-0 lead on a three-run home run, but the Racers were unable to maintain the lead and fell, 4-3.
The Austin Peay Series
After splitting a doubleheader in Clarksville last year, the Racers now lead the all-time series with Austin Peay, 18-6. In Murray, the Racers are 9-3 all-time and have won each of the last eight meetings there.
Scouting The Govs
In his first season, Rodney DeLong has almost doubled Peay's wins from last year, as the Govs will enter Friday at 33-15 overall. In OVC play, Austin Peay has won nine more games this season and are currently 14-4 and second in the league standings. APSU is currently batting .277 and is led by Danielle Liermann with a .348 average, while Bailey Shorter and Kacy Acree follow at .346 and .324, respectively. In the circle, the Govs have a staff ERA of 2.25 and are allowing opponents to hit .239 against them. Morgan Rackle has been the go-to pitcher for Peay this season with a 1.51 ERA, a 18-6 record, and a 9.2:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio, the fourth best in the nation, with 183 strikeouts and only 20 walks.

Goodbye Old Friends
Friday will be the last home games for three Murray State seniors. The trio has played their entire career in Murray and are pitcher Haven Campbell, infielder Erika Downey and outfielder Maddy Feeney.
Battle Of The Border
Six points will be on the line Friday in the Heritage Bank Battle of the Border. The Racers can clinch a win in the year-long multi-sport Battle of the Border series with just one win by the softball Racers Friday.
