Big Fourth Pushes Eagles Past Racers
1/3/2019 10:09:00 PM | Women's Basketball
The Murray State women's basketball team could not overcome a sluggish fourth quarter and fell to Morehead State, 83-61, Thursday night at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky in the OVC opener for both teams.
The Racers cut the lead, which was as much as 15 at that point in the game, to just seven twice in the waning minutes of the third quarter. However, despite trailing by 10 after three complete, the Racers were just 2-of-8 from the floor in the final stanza, allowing Morehead State to take full advantage by scoring 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting.
Aliyah Jeune came off the bench to lead Morehead State with 28 points in 34 minutes of play. Macey Turley led Murray State with 14 points, while Brianna Crane followed with 10. Evelyn Adebayo nearly had her sixth double-double of the season as she finished with nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds, her sixth double-digit rebound performance of the season. For Crane, it marked her fourth consecutive game that she finished with double-digit points.
The Racers will have to regroup quickly as they return to action at home Saturday evening when Eastern Kentucky comes to town. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
