The Murray State women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 match at Middle Tennessee Sunday afternoon at the Adams Tennis Complex in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Sara Loncarevic and Aarja Chakraborty produced two singles wins for the Racers from the No. 4 and No. 6 positions in the Racer lineup. Loncarevic scored a 6-4, 6-2 win and Charkraborty won her match in three sets with the final set going to a final of 10-7.

The Racers lost the doubles point by a slim margin. The Racer team of Anja Loncarevic/Stasya Sharapova lost 7-5 when the match was decided by another loss for the team of Claire Chang/Jeanne Masson, MSU was tied 5-5 in the third doubles match for MSU's Sara Loncarevic/Amina Hadzic.

"It was a very close match in all aspects and probably one of the best doubles we have played," said MSU coach Jorge Caetano. MTSU has strong doubles teams and we had a few match points on court 1 and very close matches on the other courts so I am proud of the way the girls put in practice what we have been working on"

"In singles, we were very competitive overall and the effort and energy were great. Aarja and Sara had convincing wins against very good opponents and Anja also played great tennis and was a few points away of taking the match to the third. We need more matches against tough opponents like MTSU so we'll be comfortable closing them out when we are in position to do so."

Next up for the Racers (2-2) is Friday at Saint Louis in a 3 p.m. match at the St. Clair Tennis Club in O'Fallon, Illinois.
