The Murray State women's tennis team saw Amina Hadzic and Sara Loncarevic score wins in a 5-2 loss to Lipscomb Friday at the Kenlake Tennis Center in Aurora, Kentucky.

"It was not the result we were looking for but we have to give credit to Lipscomb for playing an incredible match," said MSU coach Jorge Catano. "We had our chances to take the doubles point but unfortunately we couldn't capitalize and that gave them a lot of momentum going to singles."

Playing from the No. 5 and No. 6 slots for the Racers, Hadzic won a first set tiebreaker and eventually polished the match off in straight sets. Sara Loncarevic was also a straight set winner 6-2, 6-0. MSU's No. 1, Claire Chang, won the second set in her match, but lost in three sets.

"We fought hard but we couldn't turn the match our way so props to their top 4 players for shutting the door every time we tried to come back," Catano added. "We know it is very early in the season so this match was good to show us that we need more match play."

"Amina and Sara played great tennis in doubles and singles. They had amazing energy and confidence from the first point in doubles and that translated to singles as well. I am happy to see Amina playing some of her best tennis in the second set and also to see Sara playing a great match full of confidence from start to finish".

The Racers (2-1) hit the road for the first time in 2019 at Middle Tennessee on Sunday at 3 p.m.
