Racers Wrap Up Weekend at Texas State and SEMO

The Murray State track and field team was back in action, Saturday, competing at both the Bobcat Invite at Texas State and the Joey Haines Invite at Southeast Missouri.
"Today was another good day all around," said head coach Adam Kiesler. "The weather wasn't the best in both Texas and Missouri, but the athletes overcame that to achieve some great marks both on the track and in the field. With numerous PRs a lot of things each group has been working on is starting to show. With six weeks left before conference, we are pointed in the right direction."
Bobcat Invite
Alexus Groom set a personal record in the javelin with a throw of 37.12m to finish 17th. Christina Sparks also competed in the javelin, finishing 19th with a throw of 36.42m.
The 4x100 relay team of Daijah White, Antoinetta Avant, Rachel Hagans, and Tamdra Lawrence finished fifth with a time of 47.09.
The 4x400 relay team of JaKayla McSwain, Lawrence, Hilary McAdam, and Aubrey Main finished third with a season-best time of 3:54.57.
As individuals, Lawrence also finished fourth in the 200m with a time of 23.91 while White (24.81) and Hagans (24.89 finished 27th and 29th, respectively. For both White and Hagans, they broke their personal record. Jessikha Ribeiro also broke a personal record with a time of 25.21.
McAdam finished 15th in the 800m with a time of 2:16.70.
In the pole vault, Emily Heil finished 18th with a height of 3.40m and Jessie Kinder was 21st with a mark of 3.25m.
Joey Haines Invite
Alayna Stalter had a nice day in Cape Girardeau as she won the 100m hurdles with a personal-best time of 14.50 seconds. She also finished seventh in the 100m (13.74.)
Morgan Vosler finished seventh in the 1500m (5:01.29) and ninth in the 800m with a time of 2:36.43.
In the 3000m steeplechase, Katelyn Gilbert was the top finisher for the Racers with a time of 11:47.16 to finish fourth while Dani Wright finished seventh with a time of 12:02.84.
D'Myia Thornton had a top-ten finish as she placed seventh in the 400m (1:04.63) as did Alison Woerner who finished eighth in the 100m with a time of 13.93 seconds.
In the shot put, Destiny Carey finished fifth (12.17m) and Jewel Wagner finished one spot behind her in sixth (11.84m).
As a team, the Racers finished seventh, ahead of OVC rivals Austin Peay and Belmont. The host Redhawks won the meet with 127.5 points.
After a weekend off, the Racers will return to action April 12 for the Austin Peay Invite.
