Tamdra Lawrence was the lone Racer at the NCAA East preliminaries, Thursday evening, competing in the 100m.
She finished 37th in a field of 48 with a time of 11.83, beating out runners from a few SEC, Big Ten, and Big East schools.
However, she did not qualify for the quarterfinals as she did not finish in the top three of her heat or have one of the six next best times.
The senior from Macon, Georgia wraps up her career as one of the finest student-athletes Murray State has ever seen. She recently became the first female in OVC history to win the 100m outdoor title four straight years to go along with her other titles in the 2016 and 2019 outdoor 200m, 2019 indoor 60m and 200m, and this year's 4x100m outdoor relay.
Lawrence was also named the 2019 OVC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year and Track Athlete of the 2019 OVC Championships, helping lead the Racers to their first team title since 1992.
"Today didn't go as we had hoped, but now we can look back and recognize if not the best, one of the best sprinters in OVC history." said head coach Adam Kiesler. "Tamdra has helped take this program to its first title in 27 years. Our program will always be grateful for what she did to help build us into a championship program. Not only will the team and school miss her, but as a coach, it will be sad to see her go. She has done a lot for me in my career both on and off the track. I thank her for what she did for me as a person and coach."
