Murray State track & field student-athlete, Aubrey Main, recently attended the NCAA Career in Sports Forum at the home office in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Â
The NCAA Career in Sports Forum selected 200 student-athletes to learn and explore potential careers in sports, with the primary focus being on college athletics.
Â
The NCAA had several current professionals attend the event and share in topics including: how personal values intersect with career opportunities, how behavioral styles impact individual effectiveness, key professional and career development information to assist with transition from a student-athlete to a professional and the role of the college coach or athletics administrator.
Â
Main, from Huntingburg, Ind., said she always had a feeling that she would like to have a career in athletics.
Â
"Athletics has helped me all through my life," she said. "I've always been in sports and my parents have. But I never knew how to get my foot in the door, so this conference (at the NCAA office) helped me realize the steps I need to take to get that started." Â
Â
Main just completed an outstanding senior year with the Racers' track & field squad. At the Ohio Valley Conference Championships, she won the heptathlon competition and led the way as the Racers placed 1-2-3 for the first time in school history. She claimed the OVC title with a school-record 5,012 points and became the first Racer in history to win the heptathlon. Main, is on track to graduate this summer with an MBA from Murray State.
