Rifle Opens 2020-21 Season Saturday

The Murray State rifle team will open its 2020-21 season Saturday against UT Martin at the Skyhawk Rifle Range in Martin, Tenn.
The Racers are coming off of a 2019-20 season that saw them make their sixth-straight NCAA appearance. Head coach Alan Lollar's squad returns five of seven letterwinners from last year's squad including 2020 OVC Air Rifle Athlete of the Year and dual first-team All-OVC selection Matias Kiuru. The Finn, who returns for his sophomore season, led Murray State last season with a 584.9 smallbore average, a593.4 air rifle average and an 1177.4 aggregate average.
In addition, senior Dana Buesseler returns for her final season in blue and gold, as well as juniors Emily Fitzgerald and Anna Scheer and sophomore Chloe Odle. Along with the five returners, six freshmen join Murray State for the upcoming campaign.
Those six freshmen, along with Odle, will actually represent MSU on Saturday in Martin in an effort by Lollar to get them match experience right out of the gates. On Friday, October 9, the full Racer squad will be in action for the first time when the Racers open their home slate at Pat Spurgin Rifle Range against Morehead State.
