Racers Open 73rd OVC Season Against Austin Peay
The Battle of the Border is underway Tuesday when the Murray State Racers host the Austin Peay Governors in the Ohio Valley Conference opener for each. Tip time at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky, is set for 7:30 p.m. as part of a doubleheader that sees the MSU women's team host Mississippi Valley State at 4:30 p.m. The Racers enter the game having won their last 23 games at the CFSB Center since their last loss in 2019. The game starts the Battle of the Border, the annual bragging rights series encompassing all sports during the school year. The traveling trophy currently resides at Murray State after winning the competition in the first three years of the series. After all fall sports were pushed to the spring, this game will be the first competition for the 2020-21 school year.
Because of the adjusted OVC schedule for 2020-21, the Racers will meet rival Austin Peay twice before Christmas for the first time in school history. Game one is at the CFSB Center (Dec, 8), with the second in Clarksville (Dec. 21). MSU and APSU shared the top spot in the OVC Preseason Poll.

Justice Brings The Juice
Justice Hill, a newcomer to Murray State from Salt Lake CC is off to a great start in his three games with the Racers. Hill might be the the second 3-point threat MSU needs after he went 4-of-7 from the 3-point line in the Racers' 76-65 victory over Illinois State. Hill is tied with Tevin Brown for the team lead in assists with 18. Hill has only committed eight turnovers, while Brown has only five.
Tevin Brown Joins MSU 1000 Point Club
Tevin Brown became the 47th member of the MSU 1000-Point Club after a 22-point performance against Illinois State. He joins Racer Greats Ja Morant, Terrell Miller and Jonathan Stark as recent Racers to join the club. After starting the season 3-of-12 from the 3-point line, Brown showed good signs in the Illinois State game by hitting 3-of-6.
Gilmore-Williams & Robinson - MSU Scoring Firm
Their names together might sound like a law or accounting firm, but this trio of Racers have combined to make 73 percent of their shots (49-67) in the first three games of the season. Robinson and Gilmore are currently first and second in the OVC in field goal percentage and Robinson is seventh.
McMahon Climbing Wins List
Coach Matt McMahon continues to climb the all-times wins list at Murray State. Now with 112 wins at the start of his sixth season, McMahon is fifth and gaining on Racer Greats Ron Greene and Steve Newton.
