The Series At A Glance
Saturday will be the 56th all-time meeting between the Racers and the Redhawks with Murray State leading the way in the all-time series, 41-13-1. Southeast Missouri has won 4 of the last 6 games in the series, however, the Racers won last season's meeting in Cape Girardeau, 24-21.
Scouting The Redhawks
Southeast Missouri will enter Saturday's contest at 2-4 on the year after taking down Austin Peay, 34-14, on the road last week to improve to 2-1 in OVC play.
Â
SEMO currently averages 26.2 points and 348.3 yards per game, while allowing 35.7 and 458.2 points and yards per game, respectively. In addition, SEMO's offense leans more towards the run with 207.0 yards per game on the ground and 141.3 yards per game in the air.
Â
Running back Geno Hess and linebacker Brandon Mincey showed why they are team leaders in last week's road win at Austin Peay. For their efforts in the win, the duo was named as OVC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively
Â
Hess ran for 116 yards and three touchdowns against the Govs for an average of 4.1 yards on 28 carries. The game marked the sixth time in his career that he's rushed for more than 100 yards in a single game and third this season. He currently has nine rushing touchdowns through six games, three shy of his FCS-leading 12, a year ago.
Â
Mincey recorded six tackles, two tackles-for-loss, a forced fumble and an interception against Austin Peay last week. He currently has 27 tackles, a team-high 6.5 tackles-for-loss, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception, one pass breakup, one quarterback hurry and 0.5 sacks on the year.
A Win Saturday Would...

Nice Recovery
After a disastrous first half Saturday, the Racers recovered nicely in the second. MSU finished the first half with just 95 yards, but rebounded to amass 230 in the second half. In addition, MSU also outscored the Skyhawks 21-14 in the second half.
Relief Effort
After Preston Rice exited the game in the second quarter, redshirt freshman DJ Williams entered the game at quarterback for Murray State and showed plenty of promise. He completed 13-of-22 of his passes for 182 yards with one touchdown, no interceptions and no sacks. In addition, he ran the ball four times for 28 yards.
