Racers Rout Trojans In Lone Exhibition

The Murray State women's basketball team had little trouble with Division II Trevecca Nazarene Monday night at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky, as the Racers cruised past the Trojans, 95-62, in MSU's only exhibition prior to the start of the 2021-22 season.

Recap
The outcome was really never in doubt Monday, as the Racers dominated Trevecca in nearly every aspect of the game. Murray State led by 17 at the end of the first quarter and at the half, before building the lead to 23 at the end of the third. In the fourth, MSU held the Trojans to just eight points to seal the 33-point win.
Mayes led the Racers with 16 points on the night, while freshman Clair McGowan came off the bench to add 15. McKay and Katelyn Young each chipped in 14, while Turley added 11 and Alexis rounded out MSU's double-digit scorers with 10.
Young was an impressive 6-for-6 on the night from the field, while McGowan was a perfect 5-for-5 at the free throw line. McKay had an impressive stat line of her own by going 5-for-8 from the floor, 4-for-4 at the charity stripe and pulling down 11 boards.
Next Game
The Racers will officially kick off their 2021-22 campaign next Tuesday in a special matinee game against Division III Asbury at the CFSB Center at 11 a.m.
