Racers Continue Historic Start With Win Over Lipscomb

At 8-2, MSU is off to second best start in program history

The Murray State women's basketball team picked up its eighth win in 10 ties Saturday with a 74-50 win over Lipscomb Saturday at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky.

- For just the fourth time in program history, the Racers have won at least eight of their first 10 games with Saturday's victory over Lipscomb. The best 10-game start in program history occurred in 1988-89, while the Racers have now gone 8-2 three times in 1987-88, 2007-08 and now in 2021-22.
 - Murray State crashed the boards Saturday to outrebound the Bisons by 19 at 49-30. Alexis Burpo led the rebounding efforts in the contest with a season-high 13 boards.
 - Katelyn Young led MSU in scoring for the sixth time this season with 23 points, marking her seventh 20-plus point performance of the season. She was 8-for-11 from the field, 1-for-1 from3-point range and 6-for-6 at the free throw line. Macey Turley followed Young with 13 points for her ninth 10-plus point performance of the season.
 - The Racers never trailed in the game, marking the third tip-to-horn win for Murray State this season.
Next Game
On Tuesday, the Racers will travel to Gainesville, Florida to take on the Florida Gators in MSU's non-conference finale. Tip-off from the O'Connell Center is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
