The Murray State women's golf team is ready to be part of the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country when they tee it up at the Kiawah Island Classic in Kiawah Island, S.C. 41 teams will pay the Cougar Point and Oak Point courses at  the Kiawah Island Golf Resort (Feb. 28-March 2).

The schedule of play includes a cut after 36 holes of play where the top 19 teams will play for the championship at Cougar Point during the final round, while teams 20-41 will play for a flight championship at Oak Point.

The Racers are in the event for the fifth-straight year. MSU had a pair of top-10 finishes in the event in 2017 and 2018.

The lineup for Murray State includes Payton Carter, who had the top finish for the Racers last week at the Gus Strutter Invitational in Georgia with a 19th place finish. She is joined in the lineup by Raeysha Surendran, Sarah Forsythe, Briana McMinn and Lucila Puente Rodriguez de Austria.

About Murray State Women's Golf
The Racers' program is in its 28th season overall, with the founder of the program, Coach Velvet Milkman guiding the way as the only coach the Racers have ever had. She started the Murray State program in the 1993-94 school year and has coached championship-level student-athletes that have produced 12 OVC championships, the most of any coach at Murray State. Also serving for many years as the Murray State Senior Woman Administrator, Milkman did MSU Athletics a great service by serving as Interim Athletics Director from July 2018 through February 2019. Milkman is involved at the NCAA level shaping women's golf on a national scale. She served a four-year term (2009-12) on the NCAA Women's Golf Committee including two years as chair.
