All-Time Series:
Tuesday's contest will mark the seventh meeting between the Racers and Blue Raiders, with Murray State holding a 4-2 advantage in the all-time series. The Racers have won the last three against Middle Tennessee that included a doubleheader sweep on April 10th, 2012 in the most recent meetings. Murray State has never lost to MTSU at Racer Field.
A Look at the Racers:
After a slow start to the season in nonconference competition, the Racers have caught fire and own an 11-3 record against OVC opponents after taking two of three from Tennessee State on the weekend – matching the 2019 team for the best-ever start to the conference slate. Murray State has outscored its opponents 67-37 through 14 conference contests, and is averaging 4.79 runs per game in those games. Logan Braundmeier is hitting an even .400 in the OVC to compliment a .464 on-base percentage and .620 slugging percentage, while Jensen Striegel is batting .326 with nine stolen bases against conference foes. Additionally, Sierra Gilmore (14), Lily Fischer (12), and Lindsey Carroll (11) have each produced double-digit RBI totals through 14 OVC outings.
The Racer pitching staff has also been stellar since the start of conference action, owning a 1.88 ERA with 84 strikeouts in 104 innings of work. Hannah James (5-6, 1.99 ERA) leads the conference with 95 strikeouts through all competitions, and has held opposing hitters to a .182 average on the year. Jenna Veber has also notched five wins in the campaign to pair with a 2.37 ERA in 2021. She has 46 strikeouts to just four walks through 79.2 innings, and her 11.5 strikeout-to-walk ratio ranks sixth in the nation.
Scouting Middle Tennessee:
The Blue Raiders (13-12) are batting .267 on the year while averaging three runs per contest. For MTSU, Tuesday's game will be the final tune-up before beginning Conference USA competition. Kelci Hill has led the team offensively, posting a .356 batting average to pair with seven RBIs on the season. Ryan King (.324, 4 RBIs) has also been productive at the dish, while Summer Burgess (.313, 5 RBIs) has collected a team-high eight extra-base hits to compliment a .438 slugging percentage.
The Blue Raiders have stolen 43 bases on the year, which ranks second in C-USA, and are paced by Jayla Herring who has been successful ten times in 11 attempts.
In the circle, the Blue Raider pitching staff carries a 2.85 ERA, with Corrina Dodd's 1.66 mark leading the way. With a 5-1 record in 2021, she is tied for fifth in C-USA in wins. Despite making just two starts, Kailey Ahlstrom has also been effective for MTSU as she owns a 2.46 ERA through 31.1 innings on the year.

Notes
- Jensen Striegel's 40 career stolen bases sit fourth-most in Murray State history. She needs just one more to catch Shelbey Miller's (2013-16) 41 for the #3 spot on the all-time list.
- Fifth-year senior Lexi Jones needs just one more home run to break into the top five on Murray State's all-time home runs list. Her 24 career round-trippers currently sits one behind Casey Castile's 25 for fifth-most in Racer history. Castile played for MSU from 2012-14.
- Sierra Gilmore's 104 career RBIs are the sixth-most in program history. She needs just one more to tie Jenna Bradley's (2010-11) 105 to move into the top five for all-time RBIs in a Racer uniform.
- With 95 strikeouts on the year, junior Hannah James owns sole possession of the #4 spot on the program's all-time strikeout list with 265 total in a Racer uniform. Her 22 career wins are also sixth-most in Racer history as she chases Chelsey Sullivan's (2010-12) 27 to move into the top five.
- Murray State's 2-1 defeat to Tennessee State in 16 innings on Friday marked the longest game in Murray State history, and also served as the longest contest in the OVC dating back to at least 2013. The one-of-a-kind competition is also the longest game of the season in NCAA Division-I, outlasting a 15-inning contest between Wisconsin and Ohio State on March 11th. Hannah James also set a new Murray State single-game record for innings pitched as she dealt 10.1 scoreless frames, striking out seven while allowing just three hits without issuing a single walk in the outing.
- Sierra Gilmore has posted eight multi-hit games on the year to lead the Racers in that category, while Lily Fischer has produced six multi-RBI performances.
