
Racers Swept in Doubleheader Against Morehead State

Murray State was swept 17-3 and 5-3 in the doubleheader on Friday in Morehead, Kentucky

Morehead State's Jack Gardner finished game one a solo home run shy of the home run cycle, tallying nine RBIs.

In game two, all of the Racers runs came via the long ball, as Bryson Bloomer extended his hitting streak to seven games with a single in early game and a home run in the night cap.

Game One – Morehead State 17, Murray State 3
Murray State's aggressiveness on the base paths early did not pay off as the Eagles cut down to Racer runners at the plate in the first two innings.

The Racers went on to put up single tallies in the second, third and fourth innings on two solo home runs by Jacob Pennington and Alex Crump and an RBI double from Brock Anderson.

The pitching staff couldn't contain Morehead State's offense as the Eagles went off for 17 runs in the game, the most the Racers have given up all season.

Four Racers had a multi-hit game with Jordan Cozart leading the way with three hits.

Game Two – Morehead State 5, Murray State 3
Bryson Bloomer wasted little time tying the game at one in the second. His seventh home run of the season extended his hitting streak to seven games.

The Eagles pushed across a single run in the fifth to make it a 2-1 game. But a solo home run tied the game again, this time is was Jake Slunder.

Morehead State scored solo tallies from the fifth to the eighth as they took the lead 3-2 and then extended it to a 4-2 lead.

Brock Anderson got all of the first pitch he saw in eighth to pull the Racers within one.

The Eagles matched up a solo shot of their own to bring the game to its final score of 5-3.

Seven of nine in the Racers lineup collected hits in the game.

Shane Burns threw four innings in his first start in two weeks, striking out five. Alec Whaley took the loss allowing three runs on six hits in two and one-third innings worked.

The Racers remain at Morehead State tomorrow for game three of the series, looking to avoid the sweep. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
