The Game
After a two-game road swing, the Murray State women's basketball team returns to the CFSB Center Saturday for a 2 p.m. matinee with Southern Indiana.
Series At A Glance
Saturday will mark the first meeting between Murray State and Southern Indiana since 1986 and also the first since USI's move to Division I this season. The Racers lead the all-time series with the Screaming Eagles, 3-1, and are 2-0 against them in Murray.
Scouting The Screaming Eagles
Southern Indiana is currently 3-2 overall this season after a 85-52 win over Bethel (IN) Wednesday night at home in Evansville.
The Screaming Eagles currently average 77.4 points per game on 46.9-percent shooting with 38.4 rebounds per game. Meanwhile their opponents average 65.4 points on 38.9-percent shooting with 32.0 rebounds per game.
A trio of Screaming Eagles currently average double digits with Meredith Raley averaging 16.0 points per game and Hannah Haithcock and Vanessa Shafford following at 15.6 and 14.6 points, respectively. On the boards, Shafford leads with 8.2 rebounds per game, while Ashlynn Brown follows at 5.8.
A Win Would...
A win Saturday would push the Racers' current win streak to four and keep them undefeated at home so far this season.
Finding The Groove
After shooting a season-low 28.1-percent last Saturday at Alabama A&M, the Racers returned to form Wednesday night by going 24-for-48 from the floor for an even 50-percent.
A Red Hot Performance
Murray State was an impressive 62.5-percent from 3-point range (10-for-16) Wednesday night against the Skyhawks, which will go down as the fourth-best single-game performance in school history. Coincidentally, the Racers shot 61.5-percent in each of their two games against UT Martin last season, which now rank as the fifth best single-game performances in school history.
Nearly Perfect
The Racers returned to form at the free throw line Wednesday, shooting a blistering 92.9-percent by going 13-for-14 in the game. Katelyn Young led the free throw efforts on the evening by going a perfect 8-for-8 at the charity stripe.
A Historic Night In Martin
The 19-point win by the Racers Wednesday was the largest over the Skyhawks since 2008. The win also marked the first back-to-back victories over UT Martin at the Elam Center since the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons. Additionally, it also marked the first three-game win streak over UT Martin in the overall series since the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons.
