The Game
The Murray State women's basketball team travels to Morehead, Kentucky Saturday as it continues its quest for an OVC regular-season title for a 2 p.m. ET matinee against the Eagles at Allen Arena.
Series At A Glance
Saturday will be the 90th all-time meeting between Murray State and Morehead State, with the Eagles holding a 46-43 advantage. The Eagles lead the series in Morehead, 27-17, however the Racers have won four of the last five meetings.
Scouting The Eagles
Morehead State is currently 1-22 on the season and 0-13 in OVC play. Despite being tied at 18 with Belmont Thursday, the Eagles ran out of steam in Nashville and fell 76-51.
Jada Claude leads three Eagles that are currently averaging double digits with 13.4 points per game. Lauren Carter and Terri Smith follow Carter at 13.3 and 10.3 points, respectively. On the boards, Carter and Claude also lead with 8.8 and 7.2 rebounds per game, individually.
Morehead State currently averages 51.3 points per game on 35.2-percent shooting with 31.0 rebounds per game, Meanwhile, the Eagles' opponents are averaging 73.2 points per game on 45.7-percent shooting with 39.3 rebounds per game.
A Win Would...
A win Saturday would put the Racers two road wins away from becoming the first team in program history to win 10 road games in a single season. In order to make that happen, MSU will need to win each of its three remaining road games including Saturday.
3-Point Frenzy
Macey Turley became just the third player in program history to reach 200 made 3-pointers in Thursday's game at Tennessee State. Lex Mayes could become the fourth by the end of the season, as she currently has 187.
A Group Effort
For the third time this season, Murray State had five players reach double digits in scoring Thursday. Katelyn Young and Hannah McKay each had 18 points, while Macey Turley, Alexis Burpo and Lex Mayes had 11. MSU is now 3-0 in games in which five players score 10 or more points.
Triple-Double Watch
Alexis Burpo has been in striking distance of becoming the third Racers in history to post a triple double in each of the past-two games. Against SIUE, Burpo scored 20 points and had eight rebounds and seven assists. Thursday at Tennessee State, she got even closer with 11 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
Wins Milestone
Thursday was the 17th win of the season for the Racers, marking the most wins of the Rechelle Turner era and the most wins overall since the 2008-09 season.
