Game time is set for 6 p.m. Thursday at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky. ESPNU airs the game live to a national television audience.
Govs and Racers - Part One
Murray State won the first game between the two (Feb. 3) in Clarksville 65-53 behind 17 points from Tevin Brown. The Racers led 35-31 at the half and quickly made it a 12-point lead of which they were never headed. The game marked the final meeting between the two in Clarksville as OVC members, same as Thursday's game in Murray. APSU is headed to the A-Sun Conference next season and the Racers to the Missouri Valley Conference.
Racers Move Up in National Top-25
The Racers moved up to No. 21 in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Poll. MSU remained No. 2 behind only Gonzaga in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 and they were No. 28 by KenPom.com and No. 26 in the NCAA Net Rankings. The Racers are part of a group of four teams that are undefeated in their conference. The others are: Vermont (America East), South Dakota State (Summit) and Gonzaga (West Coast).
KJ Williams OVC Player of the Week
For the eighth time in the 2021-22 season, the Racers have a Player of the Week honor in the OVC after KJ Williams won the award for the fourth time. With eight Player of the Week awards in 2021-22, the Racers (Williams, Tevin Brown & Justice Hill) have matched what Ja Morant earned in 2018-19 as the MSU program record for a single season. The Racers won seven awards each in 2011-12 (Isaiah Canaan & Donte Poole) and 2014-15 (Cameron Payne & Jarvis Williams). There are two more weeks of awards yet to come in the OVC. Williams is the Lou Henson National Player of the Week as announced by CollegeInsider.com. Williams is the first Racer to win the award since 2018 when Jonathan Stark was honored.
