Racers Face UTM At Elam Center

The Murray State Racers are 15-0 in the OVC as they play Saturday looking for their 26th victory of the 2021-22 season
Much has been accomplished by the Murray State Racers in the 2021-22 season, but with three games remaining in the Ohio Valley Conference season, the Racers (25-2)
are eyeing the program's league-best 28th regular season championship. The Racers enter Saturday's game at the Elam Center in Martin, Tenn., with a two game lead in the OVC standings. No. 21 ranked in both the Associated Press and USA Today Top-25 polls, MSU has won 15 in a row since their last loss to No. 2 Auburn (Dec. 22). They've also won their last seven road games since that Auburn game. MSU's 15-game win streak is currently tied for the longest in NCAA D-I with Gonzaga and South Dakota State.

Murray leads the nation with 25 wins and join the Zags (West Coast) and SDSU (Summit) as the final three teams in the nation that are still undefeated in their leagues.
There have been only five instances of a team in the OVC running the table in the league and going undefeated. The Racers are the last team to do it in the 2014-15 which was Coach Steve Prohm's final season as it was for eventual NBA lottery pick, Cameron Payne, when the Racers went 16-0. With the expanded OVC schedule, this time the Racers must go 18-0 to become the sixth team in the league to go undefeated.
The other instances of a team going undefeated in the OVC regular season include: Austin Peay (2003-04) and Western Kentucky (1949-50, 1965-66 and 1969-70).

KJ Williams, this week's OVC Player of the Week and the USBWA's National Player of the Week, had a monster game of 33 points and 15 rebounds. The game was close with the Racers leading 32-29 at halftime. MSU got control of the outcome with a
big run in the second half.
