Racer Baseball Back in Action for Four-Game Series with NIU

Murray State Baseball Continues Their Season this Weekend Hosting Northern Illinois
Murray State baseball returns to gameplay this weekend (Feb. 26-28) hosting Northern Illinois for a four-game series at Johnny Reagan Field in Murray, Kentucky. Following their offensive explosion, a week ago and a midweek rainout, the Racers will be back in action for the first time since they posted 25 runs against Butler.

Bryson Bloomer and Alex Crump lead the potent MSU bats following the record-breaking opening series. Bloomer, a Lexington, Ky native, ranks fifth nationally in batting average at .667 as well as ranking top ten nationally in on-base percentage (9th) and RBI per game (7th). Crump, ranks top 25 nationally in runs scored (8th), Â on-base percentage (19th), and walks per game (23rd).

Matt Boynton leads the Racers starting rotation after the first weekend, earning the win while not allowing an earned run through four innings. Shane Burns and Jacob Pennington proved to be vital bullpen arms for Murray State after combining for 5.2 scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts.

Northern Illinois comes into the series 0-4 after dropping their series with Sacramento State. The Huskies went 16-38 a season ago and 15-25 in conference play. Kaden Kosobucki leads the NIU offense after their first four games, batting .429 with three rbi and five walks. Kyle Seebach leads the Huskies arms with 6.2 innings pitched and a solid 2.70 ERA.
