Racers Host Rival Belmont in Conference Home Opener

Murray State Will Take on the Bruins in a Three-Game Set Over the Weekend
Murray State (15-8) baseball will host conference foe, Belmont, for a three-game series this weekend at Johnny Reagan Field in Murray, Kentucky. The series will be the OVC home opener and will be Player's Weekend with senior day scheduled for pre-game Saturday.

The Racers and Bruins have met 47 times in the history of both programs with Belmont leading the all-time series 27-20. Murray State won the last meeting between the two sides 2-0 on April 18, 2021.

The Racers enter the matchup win 15 wins on the year after defeating Alabama A&M on Wednesday. MSU currently holds an impressive 13-2 home record after winning their first 12 games at Johnny Reagan Field.

Murray State is led offensively by graduate second baseman Jordan Holly, who has stuffed the stat sheet for MSU. Holly leads the team with a .333 batting average while posting a .408 on-base percentage and smacking six doubles. Fellow graduate Jake Slunder continues to drive the Racers bats from the top of the order with 29 hits in just 23 games along with five triples, good for second in the nation.

The Racers rank 11th nationally with 55 stolen bases while being caught stealing just seven times on the year.

Belmont has played just four road games this season, splitting the matchups 2-2 thus far. The Bruins are 4-6 in their last 10 games and won their series a week ago over Austin Peay 2-1.

The Bruins are led by Guy Lipscomb on the offensive side with his .400 average and 21 stolen bases this season. The outfielder has three doubles and three triples with a very impressive .485 on-base percentage.

6 foot 7 left-hander Jalen Borders leads the Bruins pitching staff with 31 innings pitched and a 2.61 ERA on the year. Borders has struck out 23 while walking 13 and giving up 24 hits.
