The Game
The Murray State women's basketball team embarks on their maiden MVC voyage to Iowa Friday to take on UNI at the McCleod Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa at 6 p.m. The game will be a battle of teams undefeated in the MVC, as both the Racers and the Panthers swept their opening weekend of Valley games.
Last Time Out
After a fourth quarter in which it outscored Valparaiso, 21-5, Murray State picked up its second MVC victory in as many chances Sunday with a 67-48 over the Beacons. Katelyn Young notched a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Bria Sanders-Woods led all scorers with 19.
Series At A Glance
The Racers will clash with UNI for just the third time in program history Sunday. Murray State and UNI first met in Murray in 2004 and last met in Cedar Falls in 2005 with the Panthers walking away as winners from each contest.
Scouting The Panthers
UNI enters Friday night at 7-4 overall and 2-0 in the MVC after a pair of wins over Bradley and Illinois State on the Valley's opening weekend of play.
Reigning MVC Player of the Week Grace Boffeli currently leads the scoring for the Panthers with 16.8 points per game, while Maya McDermott follows at 14.1. Boffeli also leads UNI on the boards at 8.8 rebounds per game with Cynthia Woods following at 6.9
UNI currently averages 74.5 points per game on 43.0-percent shooting with 38.9 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, the Panthers' opponents are averaging 70.1 points per game on 38.7-percent shooting with 39.8 rebounds per game.
A Win Would...
A win Friday would give Murray State its 650th all-time program victory.
From The Starting Gate To The Finish Line
For the sixth time this season and for the fourth consecutive game, Murray State's opponents led for under one minute of the contest. The Beacons led for just 22 seconds of Sunday's game, with the Racers leading for over 37 minutes. Of the six games in which Murray State's opponent led for less than 60 seconds, only Kentucky and Valpo did not allow the Racers to lead wire-to-wire.
