Murray State volleyball will resume their MVC campaign at Carbondale and Springfield
Murray State volleyball returns on the road as they visit Southern Illinois and Missouri State for their sixth and seventh Missouri Valley Conference matches, Friday and Saturday.
The Racers are fifth on the MVC standings with a 3-2 conference record and 9-5 overall record. They are one of the most offensive teams in the conference, with 14.05 kills per set, just behind UNI's 14.35.
Notes
- Murray State is coming off a 1-1 weekend with a sweep win over Bradley and a five-set loss to Illinois State.
- The Racers move to fifth in the MVC, going 3-2 in conference play.
- Bailey DeMier averaged 11.38 assists per set through the weekend. She is now first in the league in assists per set with 11.
- Ella Vogel led the Racers through the weekend with 31 kills, averaging 3.88 per set.
- Haidi Miliou is the Racers' most effective attacker, with a .410 attack percentage while averaging four kills per set with a total of 20 kills.
- Miliou also led the Racers through the weekend in points per set with 4.40.
- Dahlia Miller made a total of 49 digs to average 6.13 per set. She is second in the league in digs per set with 5.45.
- Elisa Dozio led the Racers through the weekend in blocks with six (1 BS 5 BA).
Opponents
Southern Illinois
The Salukis are sitting at second in the MVC standings with a 4-1 conference record and 12-4 overall record. They are on a three-match winning streak with wins over Evansville (3-1), Indiana State (3-1) and Missouri State (3-1).
Senior outside hitter Nataly Garcia leads the Salukis in kills with 202. Middle blocker Imani Hartfield is their most effective hitter, with a .397 hit percentage while posting 114 total kills.
SIU has two control towers, with freshman setter Ema Stermenska leading in assists with 341. Followed by junior setter Anna Jaworski with 334 assists.
Missouri State
The Bears are placed ninth in the MVC standings with a 2-3 conference record. They were 2-0 with wins over Indiana State (3-1) and Evansville (3-0) through the weekend before falling to Southern Illinois (1-3) on Monday.
Junior middle blocker is the Bears' main offensive outlet, posting 172 kills this season with a .269 attack percentage. Missouri State also has two setter options, with junior Morgan Sprague leading in assists with 350 and sophomore Josie Halbeib with 255.
On the back row, defensive specialist Teagan Polcovich leads the defense with 328 digs.
