Game Day Story Lines

It's a doubleheader day at the CFSB Center with the Murray State men's team playing first at 3 p.m. against MTSU.
The Murray State women's team opens Missouri Valley Conference play afterwards against Valparaiso.
The Racers and Blue Raiders meet for the 13th time as a non-conference game since MTSU left the OVC in 2000.
The series is the fifth-longest for the Racers in program history with this meeting being their 146th meeting.
MSU's top foe is Tennessee Tech with 179 games, followed by Morehead State (164), Eastern Kentucky (162) and Western Kentucky (153).
The Racers have are 7-5 in the previous meetings against MTSU with the Bluew Raiders winning at home 83-67 a year ago in Murfreesboro.
This is the final non-conference game for the Racers as get back to Missouri Valley play at home against UIC (Jan. 2) and MTSU plays its first Conference USA game at home against LA Tech (Jan. 11).
In the SMU game (Dec. 22) Quincy Anderson and Brian Moore, Jr. combined to hit for 31 points on 12-of-28 from the field.
Anderson has hit at least one 3-point basket in the last six games.
Freshman Lawrent Rice scored his first points as a Racer when he hit a shot in the lane with 7:08 left.
Murray State's Rob Perry is 263 points from scoring 2,000 in his collegiate career.
MSU's Brian Moore is 38 points from reaching 1,500 in his career.
The MVC was ranked recently as the No. 9 conference in NCAA D-I and this week the league had seven teams in the NCAA Net Top-100 teams with Indiana State at the top as the No. 23 team in the nation.
The Racers have experienced some rough luck this season as they are 0-5 in games decided by five points or less.
MSU would love to get their shooting touch back, through 12 games, they are hitting just 43 percent from the field, 31 percent from the 3-point line and sub-70 percent as a team from the free throw line.
MSU looks to improve their defensive abilities as well, as they rank 12th in the MVC in defensive field goal percentage at .477.
