The Game
The Murray State women's basketball team returns to the CFSB Center for the final time this season Saturday when it takes on UNI at 2 p.m., for Senior Day.
Last Time Out
A barrage of 16 3-pointers was enough to push Drake past Murray State as the Racers fell, 97-71, at the CFSB Center. Katelyn Young led MSU with 19 points in the game, while Macey Turley followed with 18.
Series At A Glance
The Racers will clash with UNI for just the fourth time in program history Saturday. It will mark the Panthers second trip to Murray and first since 2004. After a win by UNI in Cedar Falls in January, the Panthers now lead the all-time series, 3-0.
Scouting The Panthers
UNI enters Friday night at 12-5 in the Missouri Valley and 18-8 overall after a loss on the road Thursday at Belmont.
Grace Boffeli currently leads the scoring for the Panthers with 16.2 points per game, while Maya McDermott and Emerson Green follow at 14.7 and 10.6, respectively. Boffeli also leads UNI on the boards at 8.8 rebounds per game, while Cynthia Wolf adds 5.8
UNI currently averages 74.4 points per game on 43.6-percent shooting with 37.2 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, the Panthers' opponents are averaging 65.1 points per game on 40.0-percent shooting with 36.6 rebounds per game.
A Win Would...
A win Saturday would allow the Racers to close their 2022-23 home slate with a record of 9-5.
A Long, Winding Road
Friday begins the end of a historic career for Macey Turley and the end of a long journey between her and head coach Rechelle Turner. Turner began coaching Turley in the seventh grade at Murray High School through her junior year of high school. After a year apart, the duo reunited at Murray State and on Saturday they will play their 307th game together.
An Elite Achievement
In the third quarter Thursday against Drake, Macey Turley hit a 3-pointer that put her career point total at 2,001 making her the fourth member of Murray State's 2,000-point club. Turley now joins Sheila Smith, Ke'Shunan James and Ashley N. Hayes as the only other members of the exclusive club.
For the third time this season the Racers went perfect at the free throw line against Drake. Murray State went 9-for-9 at the charity stripe against the Bulldogs, after going 10-for-10 and 6-for-6 earlier this season.
Topping The Charts Again
Already the program's all-time assist leader, Macey Turley needs just four made 3-pointers to pass Mariah Robinson and become the school's all-time leader in the category.
So Long, Farewell
Saturday will be the last time that Alexis Burpo, Jordyn Hughes and Macey Turley will take the court at the CFSB Center. The trio all returned for one final season with Murray State, using their extra year of eligibility granted to them by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Burpo and Turley have spent five seasons with the Racers, while Hughes transferred to MSU after a four-year career at Eastern Illinois.
