The Game
The Murray State women's basketball team will close out a four-game road trip Sunday when it travels to Normal to take Illinois State at the CEFCU Arena at 2 p.m.
Last Time Out
Down one midway through the fourth quarter, the Racers could not complete the comeback Thursday and fell at Belmont, 64-54. Macey Turley and Hannah McKay had 18 and 11 points, respectively, while Katelyn Young had a double-double of 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Series At A Glance
The Racers and the Redbirds have met just three times previously with Illinois State holding a 2-1 advantage. Illinois State won the lone meetings in Murray and Normal in 1976 and 2015, respectively, while Murray State's lone win came in 2001 at a tournament hosted by Indiana.
Scouting The Redbirds
Illinois State enters Sunday's match-up on a nine-game win streak with an overall record of 16-5 and a 10-1 mark in Missouri Valley play. The first-place Redbirds extended their win streak Thursday as they cruised by Bradley at home, 84-52.
Paige Robinson currently leads the Redbirds with 18.3 points per game, while Mary Crompton and DeAnna Wilson follow at 11.9 and 11.8. On the boards, Wilson pulls down 7.6 rebounds per game to lead Illinois State, while Kate Bullman follows at 6.1.
Illinois State currently averages 68.2 points per game on 41.7-percent shooting with 35.5 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, the Redbirds' opponents are averaging 59.7 points per game on 37.3-percent shooting with 37.1 rebounds per game.
A Win Would...
A win Sunday would put an end to a five-game skid by the Racers, both overall and on the road.
