The Game
The Murray State women's basketball team returns home Friday looking to snap a six-game skid when it welcomes Indiana State to the CFSB Center for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
Last Time Out
The Racers left it all on the court Sunday at Illinois State, but in the end came up just short and fell to the Redbirds, 79-73. Up by 11 at the end of the first, the Racers were unable to sustain that momentum thanks to an eight-point third quarter. Macey Turley led MSU with 22 points, while Katelyn Young and Briley Pena followed at 13 and 12, respectively.
Series At A Glance
Sunday will be just the seventh meeting between the Racers and Sycamores with the MSU leading the series, 4-2. The Sycamores won the first MVC meeting in the series last month in Terre Haute, 62-56.
Scouting The Sycamores
Indiana State is currently 9-12 on the season and 4-8 in Missouri Valley Conference play. On Sunday, the Sycamores had a rough go of it in Cedar Falls, dropping a 91-51 decision to UNI.
Del'Janae Williams currently leads the Sycamores in scoring with 13.4 points per game, while Chelsea Cain and Anna McKendree follow at 11.5 and 10.2, respectively. Cain leads Indiana State on the boards as well with 5.5 rebounds per game, while Mya Glanton follows at 4.3.
Indiana State currently averages 62.8 points per game on 37.7-percent shooting with 38.0 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, the Sycamores' opponents are averaging 65.3 points per game on 40.0-percent shooting with 37.8 rebounds per game.
A Win Would...
A win Sunday would put an end to a six-game skid by the Racers overall and a two-game slide at the CFSB Center.
Inching Closer
Alexis Burpo is closing in on a major career milestone. She currently has 983 career points and needs just 15 to become the 22nd member of the Murray State 1,000-point club.
Raining Threes
The Racers made a season-high 13 3-pointers in Sunday's game at Illinois State. It was exactly double the Racers' average of 6.5 threes per game prior to the contest.
Macey & The Milestones
Macey Turley became the programs all-time leader in double digit scoring games Sunday when she poured in 22 at Illinois State. Turley has now scored 10-plus points in 105 games. In addition, she needs just seven assists to pass current Racer assistant Amber Guffey and become the school's all-time leader in the category at 513.
Return To Form
Macey Turley returned to doing Macey Turley things last week averaging 20.0 points per game. She is now averaging 11.2 points per game after averaging 9.6 prior to last week.
