Murray State baseball is set to take on Austin Peay in Popeye's Battle of the Border on Tuesday at Johnny Reagan Field in Murray, Kentucky. Winners of five straight and led by this week's Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, Logan Bland, MSU looks to continue its momentum in the final game before MVC play begins.

Earning MVC Player of the Week, Bland went 6-for-13 across the Racers four wins good for a .462 batting average for the week. The redshirt junior accounted for 13 runs with eight RBIs and five runs scored throughout the 4-0 stretch for Murray State. Earning a 1.380 OPS in wins over North Alabama and Southern Indiana, Bland also led the Racers with 10 total bases. For the season, Bland now leads the Racers with a .321 batting average and has drawn 13 walks while striking out just seven times in 20 games.
The Racers put together their strongest series of the season, picking up a series sweep over Southern Indiana while outscoring the Screaming Eagles 39-8. Murray State scored at least 11 runs in all three games against USI while picking up two mercy-rule victories. Jacob Pennington and Bryce Valero continued to be one of the better one-two punches on the mound, combining for 13.2 innings pitched, zero earned runs, and 17 strikeouts for the weekend.
