Racers Drop Close Match at Home to the Bruins

Racers fall to Belmont for their last home match
Murray State falls to Belmont in their last home match of the season.
In their close match against the Bruins, the Racers battled to the end but came up short. MSU started the match by earning the doubles point. MSU doubles pair Natalie Slezakova/Emma Honore was the first to win their match (6-3) followed by Sarah Bureau/Annika Pschorr defeating their opponents (6-3).
The Racers could only secure two more wins in singles play. Annika Pschorr won her match in the third flight (6-2), (6-0) followed by Paola Campigotto who came back in dominant fashion winning in three sets (6-4), (3-6), (6-0).
"Great high-level match that unfortunately didn't go our way. We started strong playing some great doubles and carried the momentum going to singles, but props to Belmont for finding a way to swing the momentum in their favor," said head coach Jorge Caetano.
"Overall I felt like we got better. I was very happy to see Marit back in the singles lineup. Natalie fought extremely hard coming back from a 5-1 deficit in the third and tying at 5-5 but unfortunately couldn't complete the comeback. Extremely proud of her though and the team for pushing her to go beyond her limits trying to come back."
