Racers Earn Mercy Rule Win in Midweek Matchup

Murray State earned a 10-0 win over Alabama A&M on Tuesday
Murray State baseball picked up its fourth straight win with a 10-0 victory over Alabama A&M on Tuesday at Johnny Reagan Field in Murray, Kentucky. Dustin Mercer continued his scorching hot prescence at the plate, picking up three more hits including a home run in the first inning.Â
The redshirt sophomore outfielder is hitting batting .348 for the year with 10 doubles and nine home runs and has 13 hits in his last 19 at-bats.Â
Sophomore third baseman Carson Garner launched his fourth home run of the year with a three run blast in the second inning. Garner also picked up a single to go with a pair of walks in the contest. Seth Gardner joined in the fun with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored against the Bulldogs.Â
Ethan Lyke and Cade Brown combined for the Racers first shutout of the season while combining for eight strikeouts and allowing just two hits.Â
Murray State bounces back to action quickly with a 2 p.m. matchup on Wednesday against former conference foe UT Martin at Skyhawk Field in Martin, Tennessee.
