Griselda Revolorio picked up her first career clean sheet on Sunday against Missouri State.
The Murray State women's soccer team ended Sunday's match with Missouri State in a scoreless draw at Cutchin Field, notching a point to open conference play.
Mary Hardy and Megan Wilson led the team with four shots a piece. Hardy put three of hers on target and Wilson added two of her shots in frame. Audrey Henry, Sydney Etter and Kate Stordy each took two shots in the match.
As a team the Racers outshot the Bears 14-12, splitting seven shots in each half.
Stordy made her first career collegiate start, playing the full 90 minutes. Henry, Hardy, Morgan Bodker and Hannah Carter also spent full time on the pitch.
Freshman Griselda Revolorio picked up her first career collegiate clean sheet, notching six saves in 90 minutes.
The Racers will return to play on Thursday, September 21 when they travel to Nashville, Tennessee to face off with Belmont at 6:30 p.m. CT.
Statement from Head Coach Matt Lodge:
"I'm really happy with the performance. I think it was great, it was a performance much needed heading into conference [play] against a very, very good Missouri State team. I'm not one to read into preseason rankings—you know, obviously they're number one—and it shows why. They're reigning champions, they've brought in some great transfers, some great freshmen so credit to Kirk [Nelson] and his staff. They've done a phenomenal job in their efforts—one, recruiting and two, coaching. They've beaten Oklahoma State this season [and] their only loss is against Mizzou. I love what they've got going on over there, so props to them. But for us, I thought we were fantastic today. I thought [the] second half we looked like the only team that wanted to score. Again, we gave up some chances and we could've been punished, but I also think going the other way we created enough to win the game. But more than anything, shoutout to our freshman goalkeeper, Gigi [Revolorio], first clean sheet of her college career and first of many. The back four was phenomenal, anyone that came off the bench was fantastic. I can sit here and go on all day about individuals, but I think it was a team effort. My staff was fantastic again, too. It always takes a village to get results, and again, I'm not getting carried away. It's a draw, but it's a big point in the grand scheme of things that's going to help us climb up the leaderboard."
