Bureau Earns 100th Career Win at APSU Invitational

Sarah Bureau and Murray State women's tennis have second consecutive successful weekend of the fall

Murray State women's tennis had a successful weekend at the APSU fall invitational in Clarksville, Tennessee highlighted by Sarah Bureau picking up her 100th career victory.

The Racers went 24-9 overall on the weekend, including an impressive 17-3 singles record in the matchups. Bureau went 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles for a second-straight 6-0 weekend. She is now 12-0 in singles and doubles combined for the fall and is now 53-36 in singles and 51-26 in doubles for a 104-62 overall record.

"Sarah has played 90% of her matches in the top 3 positions of the lineup for us and achieving 100 career wins is an unbelievable achievement," said Head Coach Jorge Caetano. "Her numbers look fantastic but what I am most proud of is the way she has developed and become a leader on and off the court."

Emma Honore (3-0), Paola Campigotto (3-0) and Varya Alexeyeva (2-0) also went undefeated in Singles play throughout the invitational while Buereau and Annika Pschorr combined for a 3-0 weekend in doubles. The pairing is now 17-3 when playing together in their careers.

"Our singles play was the highlight of the weekend, we played with poise and confidence which is great to see early on in the season," Caetano said. "Our decision-making keeps improving after every match and now we must continue to work on execution."
