Murray State took at least 20 shots for the third time this season.
Murray State dropped its Thursday conference clash with Indiana State, 0-1, at Cutchin Field.
The Racers showed strong attacking pressure despite being left off the board, outshooting the Sycamores 12-4 in the first half and 8-4 in the second half. MSU put seven of their 20 shots in frame through 90 minutes.
After a scoreless battle in the first half, Indiana State scored on a counter attack at the 56-minute mark coming off an unassisted run. The Racers attempted six more shots after the goal in an attempt to equalize, but the Sycamores held their ground in their defending third.
Sydney Etter and Mackenzie Tucker combined for 11 shots, with Etter putting two in frame and Tucker with one on target. Mary Hardy took four shots and Breece Bass added three more shots. 10 of Murray State's 11 starters recorded at least 75 minutes on the pitch, with all 11 having at least 60 minutes.
The Racers look ahead to its Senior Day match and home regular season finale against Valparaiso on Sunday, October 20 at 1 p.m. CT.

Head Coach Matt Lodge on his team's performance:
"I thought we dominated from start to finish. For the first half, we had four of the easiest scoring opportunities we had all season and we didn't even hit the target. Those will always come back and haunt you when you don't put teams away. Letting them hang around—and we kind of gifted them three points. I thought we did everything to win. I thought we worked hard, fought hard, played some good football. But at the end of the day, if you don't put it in the back of the net you're not going to win games."
Â
Head Coach Matt Lodge on the message to his team going into the home finale:
"Our message has been the same all season, especially since we've joined conferences. I still believe we're the best in the conference, which is funny to say now that we're sighting 10th. But we create and we create and we create, and until we can put it in the back of the net, we're going to be struggling to pick up any points."
Â
Head Coach Matt Lodge on the performance of his freshmen:
"I think we've got a great group [of] freshmen, sophomores [and] juniors. We only lose a few fifth-years and obviously Morgan [Bodker] as a senior, but we've got a great young group coming up. I'm not worried about the future of the program. I think we've recruited very well and we've got some very, very good players. We just have to find a way to win."
