Racers Head to Baton Rouge for Matchup with Seventh Ranked Tigers

Murray State women's basketball travels to Baton Rouge, Louisiana for a Friday game against nationally ranked LSU
Murray State women's basketball travels to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to take on the seventh-ranked LSU Tigers at 7 p.m. CT on Friday. The matchup marks the first-ever meeting between the Racers and Tigers and is the first of four straight road contests for MSU.Â
Katelyn Young and Haven Ford lead the Racers in scoring through two games this season with Young posting 19 points per game and Ford averaging 16 per contest. Ava Learn is putting up 15.5 points per game and joins Young at the top of the rebounding charts for the Racers.Â
The Racers enter the contest at 1-1 on the season with a 104-60 victory over SIUE to start the season and a 82-75 defeat to Southern Indiana. The 104 points to start the year are the most ever against a divison 1 opponent by Murray State in a season opener.

LSU enters the game at 3-0 on the season and are ranked seventh nationally by the Associated Press. The Tigers are coming off of a national championship in 2022-23 and an elite eight appearance in 2023-24. All-SEC performer Flau'Jae Johnson leads the Tigers with 22.3 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game. Mikaylah Williams and Aneesah Morrow each average more than 15 points with Morrow leading the team in rebounding at 11.7 per game. The Tigers have scored 95 or more in each of their three contests this season.
