Racers Begin 2024-25 Campaign on Thursday

Murray State women's basketball hosts SIUE on Thursday to begin the 2024-25 regular season
Murray State women's basketball will begin it's season on Thursday (Nov. 7) when they host SIUE at 6 p.m.inside the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky.
Coming off of a 20-win season a year ago, Coach Rechelle Turner leads the Racers into the 2024-25 season with the program's all-time leading scorer Katelyn Young returning for one final campaign with the Racers. Turner begins her eighth season at the helm after surpassing the 100 victory mark last season as Young is coming off of yet another all-conference showing in 2023-24.Â
Young led the Racers last season with 19.2 points per game to go with 7.9 rebounds per contest. Fellow All-Missouri Valley performers Ava Learn and Haven Ford also return for the Racers, each in their second season at MSU. Learn ranked second on the team last year with 11.2 points per game while Ford averaged 9.9 points and 3.1 assists as a freshman.
Newcomer Halli Poock joins the Racers after an all-MVC showing at Bradley a season ago as she ranked second on the Braves' squad with 14.9 points per game as a freshman last season.
Scouting SIUE
SIUEÂ began the season with a loss to Missouri St-Louis on Monday night 60-54. Brianna Wooldridge led the Cougars with 12 points and five rebounds and Halle Smith had nine points and eight rebounds.
Samantha Quigley Smith leads SIUE in her fourth season with a record of 27-67.
